Most domestic roofs and walls are a few days including cleaning, preparation and drying time. Coatings need the surface dry and the weather on side, so we'd rather move a date than rush an application.

It can, which is why we don't just point a lance at a roof. Thick moss comes off by hand first, and machine cleaning is matched to the tile type and condition. Old, soft concrete tiles get treated very differently to hard clay.

No. Masonry paint sits on the surface and tends to trap moisture behind it. The ProPERLA system is breathable and water-repellent — water runs off the face, while moisture inside the wall can still escape. That difference is the whole point.

If it's penetrating damp coming through porous render or masonry, this is exactly what the product is designed for. If it's a leaking gutter, a failed roof or rising damp, coating the wall won't help and we'll say so at the survey.

A wide range. We bring samples to the survey so you can see them against your own wall in daylight, which is the only way to judge a colour.

It's designed not to. It goes on as a cream, soaks in, and once cured leaves the appearance of the masonry essentially as it was. We can do a test patch at the survey if you want to see it on your own wall first.

No — and that's the important bit. It repels liquid water from outside while staying breathable, so water vapour inside the wall can still get out. A non-breathable sealer on a solid wall causes problems rather than solving them.

No. It's an impregnating treatment that soaks in rather than a film that sits on top, so the surface texture and grip stay as they are.

Yes, where it's needed. Cleaning inevitably takes some jointing sand out, and leaving it out is how blocks start to move.

Not directly. The impregnator needs to soak into bare timber. Stained or painted wood needs stripping back first, and depending on the size of the job that may or may not be worth doing. We'll give you an honest view at the survey.

It's a clear treatment. It'll darken the timber slightly as any wetting treatment does, in the way rain does, but it isn't a stain and it doesn't add colour.

This product is intended for vertical surfaces. Decking takes foot traffic and standing water, which is a different problem — we'd point you at a decking-specific treatment.

It depends entirely on what's causing it. Surface condensation on cold walls is what ProTHERM is designed for. Rising damp, penetrating damp and leaks are different problems and this won't solve them. That's why we inspect before recommending anything.

No. It's a coating for the wall surface, not a replacement for proper insulation or ventilation. Where insulation is the real answer we'll say so — Acorn Home can handle that side.
