What's involved
How we do it.
Condition and suitability inspection
Species, moisture content, and whether there's an existing coating on it. This decides everything else.
Cleaning and preparation
Dirt, algae and weathered grey surface removed.
Removing existing coatings
Where it's practical. Sometimes it isn't, and we'll say so rather than coat over it and watch it fail.
Sanding
Bare timber sanded to an even, receptive surface.
Minor timber repairs
Loose boards, failed fixings and small rot patches dealt with where they can be.
Impregnator application
Applied to clean, dry, bare timber at the specified rate.

Suitable for
- Bare, untreated fences, gates and cabins
- Exterior beams and timber fascia
- New timber going up that you want protecting from the start
Not suitable for
- Painted, stained, oiled or sealed timber that can't practically be stripped
- Horizontal decking — this is a vertical-surface product
- Timber that's already rotten and needs replacing

Asked before you ask.
My fence is already stained — can you treat it?
Not directly. The impregnator needs to soak into bare timber. Stained or painted wood needs stripping back first, and depending on the size of the job that may or may not be worth doing. We'll give you an honest view at the survey.
Does it change the colour?
It's a clear treatment. It'll darken the timber slightly as any wetting treatment does, in the way rain does, but it isn't a stain and it doesn't add colour.
What about decking?
This product is intended for vertical surfaces. Decking takes foot traffic and standing water, which is a different problem — we'd point you at a decking-specific treatment.
Also worth looking at
